Welcome Stephanie Irons - Our New Senior Trust Law Expert.
North Shore local, Stephanie Irons, has joined Davenports Law as a Senior Associate in the Trust Team, further strengthening our asset structuring expertise.
Stephanie’s primary area of expertise is in advising clients on all aspects of Trust Law including formation and structuring of trusts, trust variations, resettlements, and wind ups. She has worked with a number of high-net-worth individuals and families, assisting them in navigating contentious estate and trust matters, with a deep understanding of their unique circumstances.
We sat down with Stephanie to find out more about her career to date and how she is looking forward to working with our clients.
What prompted you to get into Trust Law?
I began my career in law 12 years ago after graduating from the University of Auckland. The first two of those years I spent as a tax law specialist before moving to work with private clients. I can safely say I have found my niche and my passion.
What do you enjoy the most about your role as a Trust Law expert?
I’m experienced in all aspects of Trust Law and love the variety that each day brings. I could start my day with a client who is about to purchase their first home or buy into business and needs advice on asset protection. At lunchtime, another client could be planning resettlements onto trusts for their adult children in the context of a blended family. And I could spend the afternoon trying to come up with constructive options for a client that has found themselves in a trust-related dispute.
Each client presents with their own unique circumstances. I enjoy gaining an understanding of their needs and goals and coming up with the most innovative and effective solution to achieve the best outcome for them.
"Consistency and reliability have helped me build absolute trust between myself and my clients."
What are some career highlights?
- Advised on a major restructure of family trusts that held significant assets and had a complex ownership structure
- Advised on a trust wind up in a contentious family situation, involving incapacitated individuals
- Advised Independent Trustees to high net worth trusts in a contentious family situation
What has given you the most satisfaction in your career to date?
Over my career, I have gained the most satisfaction from developing long-lasting client relationships. Consistency and reliability have helped me build absolute trust between myself and my clients. This is often years in the making and is not a privilege I take lightly.
